Find out about Green Participatory Budgeting
In our latest briefing paper we explore the potential of Green or Climate themed participatory budgeting.

Time is running short to protect our planet and achieve Net Zero. Citizen power driving our climate transition is urgently needed if the required change is going to happen. Especially, if it is going to be a socially just transition, with no one left behind.
This guide is a short introduction to green or climate themed participatory budgeting. It is the second in a series of our new PB briefing papers.
Millions of pounds are being spent every year to reduce carbon emissions and change behaviour around waste, recycling, car or aviation use, and our unsustainable consumption. Without citizens making that shift as well, the evidence is that the task of meeting Net Zero will be harder than it is already proving to be.
This briefing was produced in June 2025 to quickly explain the potential of undertaking a Green PB project. It contains short case studies and links to further reading, as well as how to access our ongoing support.
The briefing is 4 pages in total and can easily be printed as a booklet. Its suitable for community activists, local government officers and climate policy professionals. Or anyone interested in promoting PB towards helping to achieve Net Zero.
