Sophia is a deliberative democracy researcher and aspiring lawyer. She is working with Shared Future to think through a legal basis for a permanent citizens’ assembly in Cumbria.
Sophia is currently studying the Bar Course at the Inns of Court College of Advocacy, on an Astbury Scholarship from Middle Temple. Before the Bar Course, she studied a BA in Politics and Anthropology at the University of Cambridge, followed by an MA Law (Conversion) at the University of Law. Across her BA and MA, she produced research both on participatory budgeting and a judicial review case on climate change and public consultation.
Beyond her studies, Sophia worked as an Analyst at the Citizens Foundation Iceland, managing No Planet B, a proposed e-democracy project on climate change with Fridays for Future. Sophia also serves as an Advisor to One World or None, a movement making the case for new democracy models via popular culture.
