Claire joined Shared Future in early 2020 as a facilitator for Kendal Climate Citizens’ jury.
Claire’s core interest is to enable people to play an active and influential part in decisions which affect their lives. Her work is founded on three main capabilities: facilitation; systems change and impact evaluation.
Claire was part of the facilitation team at Climate Assembly UK and one of the accredited researchers who observed France’s Convention Citoyenne pour le Climat. In 2020-2021, Claire worked with the Centre for Climate Change and Social Transformation (CAST) at Cardiff University on a comparative analysis of the French and UK climate citizens’ assemblies.
Over the last few years, she has facilitated several deliberative processes on climate change and other environmental topics, both at the local and national level. Most recently she facilitated the Scottish Climate Assembly, Kendal Climate Citizens’ jury, North of Tyne Climate Assembly, Scottish Digital Ethics Panel, Kingston Air Quality Citizens’ Assembly.
In 2020, in collaboration with other partners, she launched the Global Assembly for COP26.
She is the author of a Carnegie Europe article entitled “Getting Climate Citizens’ Assemblies Right”. In March 2021, she contributed to the “Democracy on the edge” edition of the New Internationalist.
Prior to becoming freelance consultant in 2013, Claire worked for 10 years for The Environment Council, a stakeholder and community engagement charity in London, which spear-headed the facilitation and stakeholder dialogue movement of the 90’s and 00’s in the UK. She came to the UK in 2004 after working in France for an environmental NGO as a campaigner and for a recycling company in Business Development. In 2000, she graduated from the Political Sciences Institute in Bordeaux. That’s when her interest for participative democracy and sustainability emerged. She pursued with a Masters’ degree in Environmental Communication in Paris.
