Nest Members’ Assembly

We are pleased that you are interested in taking part in the Nest Members’ Assembly

What is the Nest Member Assembly?

This Assembly will bring together a group of 70 randomly chosen members, who together reflect all the different members who make up Nest, to match the scheme’s demographic profile.  Members will share their own views, hear others’ perspectives and hear reliable sources of information. Together, the Assembly will come up with a set of recommendations for Nest’s investment principles.

During the Assembly, experienced facilitators will help make people feel relaxed and safe, making sure everyone has a fair say and that the recommendations are decided upon. A lot of people feel they don’t get a real say in decisions that affect their lives. In this Assembly you will be given the chance to develop well-informed recommendations for Nest’s investment principles. Nest will listen to, and respond to these, confirming what action will be taken.

Who are the organizers of the Nest Member Assembly?

Shared Future – specialists in public engagement have been hired to run the Assembly on behalf of Nest. Shared Future has lots of experience running citizens panels, juries, and assemblies like these. You can find out more on their website at www.sharedfuturecic.org.uk

An External Advisory Group with university professors and investment professionals is providing advice to Nest to ensure the Assembly is run fairly.

How was I selected to take part?

You are one of 200,000 Nest members selected by lottery and invited to take part.

Why am I invited?

We want to hear from a range of people who may have different experiences or opinions. We want to make sure we have a diverse range of people in terms of age, gender, ethnicity, where people live and their views. Your views are as important as everyone else’s – we want to hear from you!

When will the Nest Member Assembly take place?

Sessions will take place in-person on the following dates:

Weekend 1: Manchester, Voco Hotel, 59 Portland Street Manchester, M1 3HP

  • Saturday January 31st  2026, 10am-6pm
  • Sunday February 01st  2026,  10am-4pm

What will taking part involve?

If you are selected to take part, you will have the opportunity to meet with other Nest members from different walks of life. You will hear from engaging speakers, and then discuss the issues involved in small groups. Each group will have a facilitator to make sure everyone has their voice heard. You do not need to have any knowledge of the topics – all the information you need will be provided during the sessions.

Will I receive anything for taking part?

Yes, we recognise this is a big commitment, involving two whole weekends. Everyone who attends all the sessions will receive £300 gift. This will be given at the end of February. We’ll also cover your travel, accommodation (if you need to travel a long distance), lunch and refreshments – we can even help with childcare, other carer costs and translation to make it as easy as possible for you to take part.

Should I take part?

We hope you can find time to be part of this unique opportunity to have your say at Nest. This is the very first Nest Member Assembly, and it is a new way for Nest’s members to come together to become informed and make important recommendations that affect long-term investments.

How accessible will the process be?

The Assembly will be held at an accessible venue. Lunch and refreshments will be provided, and your transport costs will be covered. There is no dress code. Please wear whatever feels comfortable for you. The information provided during the Assembly will be as jargon-free as possible. There will be opportunities to ask speakers to explain what they mean if what they are saying is not clear. If you need extra support, like translation, help with accessibility, or childcare we will try to provide it or cover the costs. If you are selected, please let us know about your specific requirements when we contact you.

Who can apply?

All Nest members who have been chosen at random and sent an invitation email can apply.

After I register interest, what happens next?

Once registration has closed, 70 people will be selected by a second lottery, from those who registered their interest to take part. The lottery process is done in a particular way to make sure that people with different backgrounds and opinions are attending. If you are selected, we will contact you by text or email from Shared Future CIC to let you know and arrange a convenient time for a quick phone call where we can discuss any help or support that you may need to join the sessions and also to give you the opportunity to ask any questions before we start.

What will happen after the Nest Member Assembly?

The recommendations will be written by the Nest Assembly members with support from the facilitators. These recommendations will become the central part of a report that will also include a detailed explanation of the process followed. Nest will respond to all recommendations made by the Panel, confirming how they are using the recommendations and what actions they are taking.

How do I register my interest in joining the Nest Member Assembly?

Please use the unique link provided in your email from Nest. If you have trouble accessing the form, you can also contact the project organisers at nestassembly@sharedfuturecic.org.uk The deadline for registering your interest is midnight November 23rd 2025.
