North Lancashire PIP awards programme 2016

6 February, 2016 | SFCIC News

Applicant pitching their idea at a PIP style event

North Lancashire PIP Awards Programme, 4 February 2016 at The Storey, Lancaster.

A unique opportunity to pitch for up to £3,000 funding for your social enterprise.

As part of our participation in UnLtd’s Lead The Change programme, Shared Future CIC ran the innovative ‘PIP Awards Programme’, providing essential funding aimed at helping new social enterprises grow.

We’d already given out several smaller (under £500) try-it style awards across the North West. We held our main funding event in Lancaster on the evening of 4 February 2016. Modelled on work we do around Participatory Budgeting, the participants make short presentations and then the audience vote. We also had a small panel of experts who supported the event by asking questions of the bidders, and who also voted.

We received some excellent applications, and we were pleased to find most were able to be invited to make their presentations. Nine worthy applicants pitched to win between £1,800 and £3,000 for their projects. In total we distributed £18,000 on the night. Around 50 people attended to hear the presentations and vote on them.

This programme was open to any new social enterprise, from pre-start up through to a maximum of one year old, based or operating in North Lancashire and surrounding areas.

The deadline for applications was 20 January 2016.

Those going through to make a presentation received our application guidance as part of applying and we made available all the information they needed in our FAQ document, linked below. Though the event is now done, we have left this information up to enable you find out more about how it was organised.
